About Us

Originally founded in the early 1960’s Casa Fina started life as Casa Pupo. The founder was a man called Doro Cassasis and his brother was called Pupo which was the inspiration for the original name. When the shop first appeared in Pimlico it was full of bright vibrant rugs and unusual ceramics. It captured the imagination of those with a love of all things continental.

The concept was a huge success and shops sprang up all around the country, from Covent Garden in London to Harrogate in the North. At this point Pupo had left the business and the shops were re-branded as Casa Fina after Doro’s wife Josephina. The name is also a play on words as Casa Fina means fine house in Spanish, Italian and Portugese. Eventually the franchise of the business ended and the few remaining stores continued the Casa Fina tradition as independent retailers.

The owners of the Casa Fina in Chichester Tim and Janet still sell the original rugs made by Doro and his wife Fina and continue to buy from many of the original Italian suppliers.
